The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) is a government energy efficiency scheme in Great Britain to help reduce carbon emissions and tackle fuel poverty. ECO4 is the latest phase of this initiative, running from April 2022 to March 2026, focusing on improving the energy efficiency of homes, particularly for low-income and vulnerable households.

1. Low-Income and Vulnerable Households:
Households receiving specific government benefits or allowances.
Homes with low energy performance (EPC ratings of E, F, or G).
Households at risk of fuel poverty, identified through local authority referrals or supplier assessments.
Note - it is the occupier who qualifies so if you are a landlord or tenant you will not miss out
2. Social Housing:
Social housing with EPC ratings of D, E, F, or G.

ECO4 follows a "whole house approach," meaning it looks at comprehensive energy efficiency improvements rather than single measures. The eligible measures include:
Insulation (cavity wall, solid wall, loft, roof, underfloor)
Heating systems (boilers, heat pumps, central heating)
Smart heating controls and thermostats
Draught-proofing and ventilation improvements
Energy Efficient Lighting
Renewable energy installations (solar panels, Air Source heating systems)
